Solidarity Rally for the Franco-Ontarian Community
Whitehorse, November 29, 2018 - In solidarity with the Franco-Ontarians who have united to oppose the budget cuts announced on November 15 by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) is inviting all Yukoners to gather together on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at the Centre de la francophonie (302 Strickland St). Throughout the country, rallies will be held simultaneously to attest to the vitality of our Francophone and Acadian communities and in support of the Franco-Ontarian people.
The Franco-Ontarian flag will be raised outside the Centre after a short reception inside. "We hope to offer those community members who so wish the opportunity to gather and join in this solidarity movement, which spans the entirety of Canada's Francophone communities," Jeanne Beaudoin, President of AFY, said about the rally.
At the same time, AFY is committed to reaffirming its unwavering support for Ontario's and Canada's Francophone communities. "We want Francophone rights to be protected by our elected representatives, as much at the provincial and territorial level as at the federal level and, this, regardless of political affiliations," stated President Beaudoin.
