Change of president
Whitehorse, March 7, 2018 - The Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) is sad to announce the resignation of André Bourcier as president of its Board of Directors. AFY thanks him for his years of work and commitment on the Board of Directors. To fill the vacant position until the next Annual General Meeting in September, AFY is pleased to welcome Jeanne Beaudoin as acting president.
"I am sad to have to leave the presidency of AFY and my position on the Board of Directors. However, I am happy about the appointment of Jeanne Beaudoin who is an exceptional person in the Yukon Francophone community," says André Bourcier.
"I will be happy to serve as acting president of the Association franco-yukonnaise. It's familiar territory for me as I chaired AFY's Board of Directors from 1989 to 1991," says Jeanne Beaudoin. The new president is enthusiastic about upcoming challenges associated with the 30th anniversary of the Yukon Languages Act, and the strengthened commitment of the Government of Canada to improve access to services in French in the territory.
AFY adds that ongoing work will not be affected by this change of president and that the priorities of the new president are consistent with the current positions of the Board of Directors.
