Taking action for a vibrant and dynamic Yukon Francophone Community
Whitehorse, September 15, 2016 - The Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) unveiled today its new position paper, "Taking Action for a Vibrant and Dynamic Yukon Francophone Community". This document spells out, through five priority areas, the actions the AFY believes are essential to ensure the advancement of French life in the Yukon, and includes some 30 requests to the federal, territorial and municipal governments.
"We hope it will help people gain a better understanding of the reality and needs of the
Franco-Yukon community and inspire those who make important decisions concerning the lives of Francophones in the Yukon," said Angélique Bernard, President of the AFY.
This position paper is one of the measures taken by AFY to promote a climate conducive to the development of the Francophonie in the territory.
Made public today at a news conference, the document is now available, in both official languages, in print form at the Centre de la francophonie in Whitehorse, as well as online in PDF format at www.agir.afy.yk.ca.
