New partnership to bring French-language films to the Yukon year-round
Whitehorse, October 7, 2015 - The Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) is proud to partner with the Yukon Film Society (YFS) to increase the supply of quality French-language films in the Yukon year-round.
"Rather than concentrate French film screenings during the traditional four-day Festival de films francophones in October, we decided to broaden the scope by multiplying the opportunities for filmgoers to see the best of French cinema from Canada and Europe throughout the year," said Virginie Hamel, AFY Arts and Culture Manager. "We thank the Yukon Film Society for having enthusiastically answered the call. Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to bring Francophone film culture to a wider audience."
This new collaboration will, as of this fall, add two presentations to the Yukon Film Society's annual programming schedule:
• Wednesday, October 28, 5:30 p.m.: "REGARD sur le court" short film program
• Wednesday, November 25, 8:00 p.m.: Félix et Meira (Franco-Québécois drama by Maxime Giroux, 2015, 1 hr 45 min)
"Yukon Film Society is pleased with the evolution of our long-standing partnership with the AFY to regularly present French language films as it expands the diversity of films and media art YFS is involved in presenting to cinema-going audiences in the Yukon", said Andrew Connors, Artsitic Director of the Yukon Film Society.
