Stability and Skill on AFY Board of Directors
Whitehorse, September 30, 2015 - Some forty members, community representatives and distinguished guests participated in the 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) held on September 26 in Whitehorse. Angélique Bernard was acclaimed President of the organization for the third consecutive term.
"I look forward to continuing to represent the AFY and the Franco-Yukon community at both the territorial and national levels and to working with our many partners, including the Government of Yukon, in moving forward projects important to our community," said AFY President Angélique Bernard.
The meeting also heartily applauded the reappointments of Josée Belisle and Christian Klein as Administrators as well as the acclamation of Marie-Stéphanie Gasse as Administrator for one year. Together with André Bourcier, Vice-President; Robert Nantel, Treasurer-President of the Management Committee; and Marielle Veilleux, Administrator, they make up the AFY's new Board of Directors.
Following the Community Recognition workshop in the morning, the members mandated the AFY to establish a committee to propose mechanisms for developing the 2016 Recognition Program. Other priority issues for the current year include: continuing to work with the governments to ensure quality French-language services in the Yukon, development of the 2016-2020 Strategic Plan, establishment of mechanisms promoting community-wide consensus building, and personal development and family literacy workshops in Dawson City.
The AFY would like to thank all attending members for their involvement in the community. Thanks also go to outgoing Administrator Maryève Vermette.
The 2014-2015 Annual Report and other documents presented at the AGM are available (in French) on the AFY Website: www.aga.afy.yk.ca.
