The Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) invites you to its 16th annual Gala de la francophonie, Friday November 12 th at the Yukon Arts Centre, starting at 7 p.m.
The evening is traditionally a colourful affair in honour of the organizations, businesses and people that have made their mark in different areas of francophone community development in the Yukon.
Awards Description
DeRuyter-Gendreau Award
Education
Recognizes an individual or organization who has shown outstanding leadership, creativity and cooperation, and has worked tirelessly to advance French language education in the territory.
Tremblay-Létourneau Award
Volunteer involvement
Recognizes an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the development of the Francophone community through their unstinting commitment to volunteer work and has shown outstanding leadership and know-how in their social and personal involvement.
Alma-Castonguay Award
Les EssentiElles
Recognizes an exceptional woman who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Yukon's Francophone community through her dynamism, involvement, effectiveness and courage. For example, she may have done outstanding work on behalf of Francophone women in the Yukon or initiated measures to promote their advancement.
Comité Espoir Jeunesse Excellence Award
Recognizes an individual (young or young at heart) who has actively contributed to the advancement of the francophone youth movement in one or more of the areas in which the Comité Espoir Jeunesse is active: sports and recreation, arts and culture, education and training, economy, environment and representation.
Binet-Dugas Award
Services in French
Recognizes an individual, organization or business that has offered exceptional services in French, going far beyond their mandate, and has made a significant impact on the community. This award may also highlight the remarkable determination shown by an individual, organization or business in order to offer quality services in French.
Pépin-Landreville Award
Culture and communications
Recognizes an individual or organization that has made outstanding achievements and contributions in one or more of the following fields: literary arts, performing arts (music, theatre, dance), film, visual arts, crafts and applied arts, community cultural development, and arts education. This award also recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated innovation or made an original contribution to the continued promotion of the Francophone community through articles or texts that have been published in magazines or collective works or have won prizes in competitions.
Health in French Excellence Award
Recognizes an individual, organization or business who, through their exceptional involvement, has made a significant contribution to the development of quality French language health or social services in the Yukon.
